Eczema Symptoms

The main symptoms are redness of skin (erythema) and a rash of pimples which may become greasy and form scabs, it is usually itchy.

Flare-ups and remissions can happen at any time and may affect any part of the body.

Atopic eczema can affect any part of the body, with the most common areas that are affected being some or all of the following:

  • backs or fronts of the knees
  • outside or inside of the elbows
  • around the neck
  • hands
  • cheeks
  • scalp

 

People with atopic eczema usually have periods when symptoms are less noticeable, as well as periods when symptoms become more severe (flare-ups). It is important to dry off well after a bath/shower as dampness can aggravate.1
