The Allergic Reaction Explained

Sensitisation

Sensitisation takes place when the body encounters a foreign substance (allergen) which it perceives to be harmful. The immune system learns how to recognise it and Immunoglobulin E (IgE) antibodies are made in preparation to act against the allergen in case of future exposure. This process may take days or even years to develop and doesn‘t produce any adverse symptom, making it difficult to detect.
