The Allergic Reaction Explained

How an allergy develops

Early phase reaction

Late phase reaction

If the early phase reaction is left unchecked different chemical mediators are released causing further inflammation and tissue swelling, this is known as the late phase reaction. This can last 9 hours or longer if exposure to the allergen continues. The late phase reaction is characterized by symptoms such as nasal congestion, darkness under the eyes due to inflammation of the sinuses and the worsening of asthma.

Seek medical advice from a qualified healthcare professional if symptoms are persistent or become more severe.
